Welcome to Word SPA - Spirituality, Poetry, Appreciation

WordSPA is a ministry of personal expansion through the spiritual catalyst of poetry, entering into the sacred moment in a spirit of fun, of hope, and of gratitude for what is, the daily grind and the sacred moment. We believe with Mary Oliver, that “Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.” Whether you want to learn to lead Spiritual Poetry Circles, or you'd like to bring Kim in to lead an experience for your group, this is a place for both diving deep and resting awhile.

The Bookstall Just looking at them I grow greedy, as if they were freshly baked loaves waiting on their shelves to be broken open—that one and that—and I make my choice in a mood of exalted luck, browsing among them like a cow in sweetest pasture. For life is continuous…

The First Green of Spring by David Budbill Listen Online Out walking in the swamp picking cowslip, marsh marigold, this sweet first green of spring. Now sautéed in a pan melting to a deeper green than ever they were alive, this green, this life, harbinger of things to come. Now…

Link: http://ift.tt/SfFIlG – Most of you know I’m working on a book on how poetry can help to build resilience in us in the face of grief. In the course of reading for the writing I found this piece and it’s one of the most poetic pieces of prose I’ve…

Fetch Who knew that the sweetest pleasure of my fifty-eighth year would turn out to be my friendship with the dog? That his trembling, bowlegged bliss at seeing me stand there with the leash would give me a feeling I had sought throughout my life? Now I understand those old…

A Prayer in Spring Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today; And give us not to think so far away As the uncertain harvest; keep us here All simply in the springing of the year. Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white, Like nothing else by day, like…
