Thanks to Joan Reidy for turning me on to this site, which some of you may enjoy as well…famous people asked about their favorite poem. Here’s John Green’s interesting answer. I love John Green!
JOHN GREEN: I find it impossible to pick a single favorite poem, but the first one that comes to mind is the single-line poem that ended John Keats’s last will and testament: “My chest of books divide among my friends.” I’ve always been partial to short poems, and I love the way this very short one is divided by the word “divide.” In the 20 years since I first read it, the poem has helped me a lot in thinking about what matters to us, what it means to own something and what we leave behind.
— John Green’s books for young adults include, most recently, “The Fault in Our Stars.”
